Ononsa Temple
온온사 · 穩穩舍

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis is the guest house where King Jeongjo of Joseon (r. 1776–1800) used to stay on his way to Jangneung Royal Tomb in Suwon. A guest house was a lodging used by visiting officials from outside when they stopped in a town, and was located at the town's centre. The present guest house building was erected in 1649, the 27th year of King Injo, originally on the site now occupied by the Jungang-dong community centre, and was moved to its present location in 1986. The name "Ononsa" was given because King Jeongjo found his stay here extremely comfortable and restful, while the hall where the local magistrate conducted official business was called "Burimheon". The wooden signboard here is said to have been written by King Jeongjo himself. The building has the centre of its roof set slightly higher than the sides, a form typical of guest house buildings.
