Andong Imhadong-dong Three-story Stone Pagoda
안동임하동동삼층석탑 · 安東臨河洞東三層石塔

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis pagoda stands in a paddy field in front of the village, and no history survives of the temple to which it once belonged. It takes the overall form of a three-storey body set on a two-tiered base. The base had been badly damaged and the whole structure had come to lean some 13 to 15 degrees to the east; it was dismantled and repaired in 1979. The top surface of the upper tier of the base is carved all round with a lotus pattern, with a tall raised block at the centre to support the stone above. The body stone of the first storey is carved with a door-shaped design. The roof stones, which slope steeply, have four-tiered supports cut into their undersides; compared with the body stones the eaves are narrow and taper only slightly, giving the pagoda a heavy appearance. Judging from the tall raised block supporting the body and the form of the roof stones, the pagoda is presumed to be a work of the early Goryeo period.
