This Buddha currently stands at a temple site whose name is unknown; the present location is not its original site, and the place from which it was excavated is not known. It is complete with both a halo, representing the light emanating from the Buddha's body, and a pedestal, the seat on which the Buddha sits. The upper part of the halo is broken and there are areas of partial wear, but overall the state of preservation is good. The halo and the Buddha image were carved from a single stone. The face has prominent cheekbones, and both corners of the mouth droop downward. Both knees are carved flatly, and the hands are rendered thin and weak. The right hand is raised to chest height with the palm facing outward, while the left hand rests on the leg. The halo is divided by two lines into a head halo and a body halo; flame patterns are carved along the edge, and scrolling vine patterns are carved on the inside. The pedestal is basically octagonal, with lotus flowers carved on its upper and lower tiers. Judging from such features as the rustic face with protruding cheekbones, the arms and hands that are weak in proportion to the body, and the floral decoration on the upper tier of the pedestal, it is presumed to have been made in the early Goryeo period.
