A local Confucian school is an educational institution built by the state to hold memorial rites for eminent Confucian scholars and to provide Confucian education and moral guidance to local people. The exact date of its founding is unknown, but based on a record that Yun Tak recommended planting a gingko tree at the Daeseongjeon, together with the estimated age of the gingko tree still standing today, it is presumed to have been built in the early Joseon period, in the 1400s. The buildings that remain today include the Daeseongjeon shrine hall, the east and west dormitories, and the Myeongnyundang lecture hall. It follows the "hall in front, shrine behind" layout, with a space for learning centred on the Myeongnyundang at the front and a ritual space centred on the Daeseongjeon at the rear. During the Joseon period the school received land, servants and books from the state in order to teach students, but after the Gabo Reform of 1894 its educational function ceased, and only the spring and autumn memorial rites continue to be held. The books kept here are good material for research into local history.
