Seonbonam Hermitage Three-story Stone Pagoda
선본암삼층석탑 · 禪本庵三層石塔

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis pagoda stands on a mountain ridge between Seonbonsa Temple and the Rock-carved Seated Buddha at Gwanbong (Treasure No. 431), celebrated as the "Gatbawi Buddha." It follows the typical Unified Silla style, with a three-storey body set on a two-tiered base. On each face of the upper and lower base tiers, pillar shapes are carved at the corners and in the centre, and pillar shapes are likewise neatly carved at the corners of each storey's body stone. The roof stones bear five-tiered supports on their underside, and the eaves run horizontal before curving up slightly at the four corners. Simple yet dignified, the pagoda's five-tiered roof-stone supports and the slight upward curve of its four corners suggest that it dates from the Unified Silla period.
