Hyangnimsa Temple Three-story Stone Pagoda
향림사삼층석탑 · 香林寺三層石塔

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krTwo stone pagodas stand side by side, east and west, in the front yard of Daeungjeon Hall at Hyangnimsa Temple. Both have a single-tier base to bear the weight of the whole structure, with a three-storey body rising above. On the base and on each body stone, corner pillars are carved in relief on all four sides; the base additionally has a carved pillar at the centre of each side, while the body stones are carved only at the corners. Each roof stone has four stepped tiers on its underside, a thin flat upper surface, and eaves whose four corners curve gently upward. The two pagodas are almost identical in scale and style, and judging from their overall carving technique and the form of the roof stones, they appear to have been built together in the middle of the Goryeo period. Fragrant tea is said to be widely grown around the temple, so that its scent is said to linger throughout the temple grounds.
