Seongju Bowol-dong Three-story Stone Pagoda
KOGL Type 1Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.kr

This stone pagoda had collapsed and lain buried in the ground before being restored in 1979. A two-tier base was raised high above the base stone, and a three-story pagoda body was built up on top of it. On both the upper and lower tiers of the base, pillar shapes are carved to mimic columns at the centre and corners of each side. On the body stones of each story of the pagoda body, pillar carving appears only at the corners. The roof stones have five tiers of supports on their undersides; the slope of the upper surface descends relatively gently, and the eaves run horizontally but curve up faintly at the four corners. Judging from its overall style and carving technique, the pagoda is thought to have been built during the Unified Silla period.
