The Yi Hoe Spirit-path Stele bears an inscription recording the life of Yi Hoe (1488–1552), the ninth son of King Seongjong, and was erected in 1587, the 20th year of King Seonjo. When the Jungjong Restoration succeeded in 1506, the first year of King Jungjong's reign, Yi Hoe was granted the title of a meritorious subject of secondary merit. The spirit-path stele was built in an ornately patterned style, with a tortoise-shaped base and a capstone carved with dragons. A single piece of white marble was carved to form the dragon-carved capstone and the body of the stele on which the text is inscribed, while the square base was made of granite. On the capstone, two dragons are intricately carved contesting for a magic jewel. The text of the inscription was composed by Kim Gwi-yeong, the calligraphy was written by the celebrated calligrapher of the age, Han Ho, known by his pen name Seokbong, and the seal-script title was written by Kim Eung-nam. Because it bears the calligraphy of Han Seok-bong, a calligrapher who represents the Joseon period, the stele is valued as an important resource for the study of the history of Korean calligraphy.
