This bell is kept in the bell pavilion of Gaeamsa Temple; it stands 89.0 cm high overall, with a mouth diameter of 61.5 cm. At the top of the bell are a yongnyu, a dragon-shaped hanging loop, and a yongtong, a sound tube that helps the bell resonate. Around the shoulder runs a rectangular band, within which a circle is drawn enclosing a Sanskrit character. In some of these rectangular panels a two-line inscription in Chinese characters is carved in relief. Below the shoulder, four square yugwak (nipple panels) and four images of standing bodhisattvas are arranged alternately. Inside the border of each yugwak are nine nipple-shaped bosses decorated with flower patterns. The standing bodhisattvas wear celestial garments and stand upon clouds, holding flowers with both hands clasped together. Around the mouth of the bell, unlike at the shoulder, a band is set bearing a carved flower pattern. On the lower part of the bell is an inscription stating that it was cast in 1689, the 15th year of King Sukjong, which makes it an important resource for the study of Buddhist bells.
