Three-story Stone Pagoda in Eumnae-ri, Eumseong
KOGL Type 1Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.kr

This pagoda originally stood at an old temple site called Tapjeong in Pyeonggok-ri, Eumseong-eup, and was relocated in 1934 to stand in front of Gyeongho-jeong Pavilion (formerly Yeonpung-jeong Pavilion). It takes the form of a three-tiered body set on a single-tier base. Pillar shapes are carved at the four corners of the base and on each body stone of the pagoda. The roof stones have three-tiered supports on their undersides and curve up slightly at each of the four corners, and at the very top sits a finial in the shape of a lotus bud. Compared overall with the stone-pagoda style of the height of the Unified Silla period, the base here has been reduced from two tiers to one, the carving of the central pillar on the base has been omitted, and the roof-stone supports have been reduced to three tiers. As each element of the style has thus been simplified, the pagoda is presumed to have been erected in the mid-Goryeo period.
