Three-story Stone Pagoda in Jingyo-ri, Hadong
KOGL Type 1Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.kr

This stone pagoda stands at Geumseongsa Temple in Jingyo-myeon, Hadong. It originally lay collapsed at an old temple site on Imyeongsan Mountain, and was moved to the Jingyo-myeon office in 1960 before being relocated to its present site for better preservation and management. It has the typical form of a three-story pagoda body set on a two-tier platform (gidan), with the lower tier appearing considerably wide. Corner pilasters are carved on each face of the upper platform and on each body stone of the pagoda body. The roof stones have three-tiered supports on their undersides, and the eaves form a gentle curve that lifts upward at the four corners. At the top, a finial in the shape of a flower bud remains on a square base stone. Although the lower platform is wide, the body stones are tall in proportion to the roof stones, giving an impression of height and slenderness rather than stability. It is a three-story stone pagoda finely finished in granite, dating from the Goryeo period.
