Tamni Three-story Stone Pagoda, Hadong
하동 탑리 삼층석탑 · 河東 塔里 三層石塔

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis pagoda was reassembled in 1968 from pieces that had collapsed and lain scattered in the village; it is also known as the "Bongsangsa Temple pagoda." It takes the form of a three-story pagoda body set on a single-tier platform. Corner and central pilasters are carved on each face of the platform, imitating the pillars of wooden architecture. The first-story body stone appears larger than those of the second and third stories, and corner pilasters are neatly carved on each edge. The roof stones have four-tiered supports on their undersides, and the eaves form a straight line. At the top, only the square base stone that once supported the finial remains. Although it follows the general style of Unified Silla stone pagodas, the reduction of the platform to a single tier and the disproportionately large first-story body stone suggest that it is a work of the late Unified Silla period.
