A dongheon is a local government office building of the Joseon period, where the county magistrate carried out public duties such as general administration and trials. 'Mogaedang', meaning a hall for governing and loving the people well, was the dongheon of Taean-hyeon in the Joseon dynasty; its preface was written in 1904, the eighth year of the Gwangmu era, by Magistrate O Byeong-seon. It is a building of six bays across the front and three bays to the side, with square pillars set on square cornerstones atop a two-tiered platform built of well-dressed long stones. For a long time it was used as the civil affairs office of Taean County Office, during which a new building was added to the rear and the interior was much altered; it has since been restored to its original appearance.
