Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThese are the relics of Kim Do-eon (1684–?), who served as a dosa (an official) of the Uigeumbu, the state tribunal that investigated crimes committed by officials, during the reign of King Yeongjo of Joseon. He received them from the king after being named a meritorious subject for his service in suppressing the Yi Injwa Rebellion. There are eight items in all: four documents comprising Kim Do-eon's certificate of passing the saengwon and mungwa examinations and certificates of posthumous honours for his parents, an eosahwa (the silk flower bestowed on successful examination candidates), a gongsin nokgwon (a certificate recording the grant of meritorious-subject status), a sample of the king's own calligraphy (eopil), and a painting titled Taepyeongyeondo. The royal calligraphy, written by the king's own hand, measures 36.5 cm wide and 102 cm long. The Taepyeongyeondo depicts the banquet held at Injeongjeon Hall of Changdeokgung Palace after the suppression of the Musin Rebellion, and measures 63.2 cm wide and 117 cm long.
