A sindobi is a stele recording the lifetime achievements of a king or high official, erected to the south-east of his tomb; this stele commemorates the career of Yi Si-bal (1569-1626), a civil official of the mid-Joseon period. Yi Si-bal passed the civil service examination in the 22nd year of King Seonjo (1580) and was appointed to the Seungmunwon, the bureau of diplomatic documents. He won great distinction during the Japanese invasion of 1592, Yi Bong-hak's Rebellion of 1596, and Yi Gwal's Rebellion of 1624, and after his death was posthumously promoted to Yeongsang, Chief State Councillor. This stele was erected to praise his achievements in stabilising the livelihood of the people and bringing peace to the provinces while serving the three kings Seonjo, Gwanghaegun and Injo in succession. It was set up in the 9th year of King Hyojong of Joseon (1658); the inscription was composed by Song Si-yeol, the calligraphy written by Song Jun-gil, and the carving done by Yi Jeong-yeong.
