Bogwangnu Pavilion is a building that serves as the Buddhist "gate of non-duality" (bulimun) for Guryongsa Temple, located halfway up Chiaksan Mountain. The approach to Guryongsa Temple passes through the Cheonwangmun, the Gate of the Four Heavenly Kings, then beneath Bogwangnu Pavilion, before arriving in front of Daeungjeon Hall. It is an ikgong-style building, using a bracket system of wing-shaped brackets, measuring five kan across the front and two kan along the side, with a gabled roof. The foundation is built of natural stone, on which round columns with entasis, a slight swelling in the middle, were erected before the pavilion structure was raised above them. The upper storey of the pavilion is open towards the courtyard in front of Daeungjeon Hall, and its columns are plain cylindrical columns without entasis, more slender than those of the ground floor. The ceiling is a "well-shaped" coffered ceiling (umulbanja), and the pavilion floor is laid in a "well" pattern of interlocking boards (umulmaru); it is said that the floor was once covered with the largest straw mat in Korea.
