These are historical documents from the mid to late Joseon period kept by the Mueungong branch of the Miryang Bak clan. The documents comprise: two gongsinnokgwon, certificates conferring the title of meritorious subject (gongsin) on officials who rendered distinguished service to the state; eleven gyoji (1623-1647), royal orders conveying the king's commands or wishes to his officials; three wanmun (1846-1857), documents by which government offices confirmed petitions submitted by ordinary people; seven hojeokdanja (1747-1801), household registration documents; and six soji (1806-1842), petitions submitted to the authorities by commoners. These documents are valued not only for what the wanmun and soji reveal about relations between officials and the people, but also as good source material for studying mid-Joseon society through the household registration documents.
