Yeongmojae Hall is a jaesa, a hall built for ancestral memorial rites, erected in 1668, the ninth year of King Hyeonjong, by the Hampyeong Yi clan of Cheongyang following a clan council meeting. More than 330 years after its construction it still retains its original form well and is a distinctive building. A prayer text written on the ridge beam and a plaque recording a later renovation show that it was substantially repaired again in 1881, the eighteenth year of Emperor Gojong. It comprises four kan (bays) of memorial hall, one kan of side gate, two kan of storehouse and nine kan of servants' quarters, forming an L-shaped building with the main gate set between the storehouse and the servants' quarters.
