This Buddha statue stands in Ansa-ri, Ansa-myeon, Uiseong-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do. It retains the body, pedestal and halo (the nimbus set behind the head and body), though the middle stone of the pedestal is missing. Carved in high relief from a single stone, with the body and halo forming one piece, the figure sits in a slightly hunched posture; although the upper body is short and somewhat out of proportion to the lower body, the overall composition still shows a pleasing formal balance. The robe, which wraps over the left shoulder, is carved in parallel lines, and lotus petals are carved on the oval halo and on the pedestal. Fragments of a stone pagoda and pieces of roof tile are piled up around the statue, and on the evidence of its carving style the statue is thought to date from the Goryeo period.
