A sindobi (spirit-path stele) is a stele recording the lifetime achievements of a king or a high official, erected to the southeast of his tomb; this stele records the achievements of Bak Hun (1484-1540), a Confucian scholar of the early Joseon period. Bak Hun passed the state examination in 1504, the 10th year of Yeonsangun's reign, and after holding various offices rose to the post of Third Secretary (dongbuseungji) of the Seungjeongwon (Royal Secretariat), but was implicated in the Gimyo Sahwa (the literati purge of 1519) and spent 17 years in exile. He is said to have been pure in character and disposition, and firm and principled in his conduct. The stele has the usual form, with its body set upright on a square base stone and a roof stone placed on top; the roof stone finely imitates the detailed style of a hip-and-gable roof. It was erected in 1748, the 24th year of King Yeongjo, with the inscription composed by Bak Pil-ju and written by Yun Deuk-hwa, while the reverse bears a text composed by Seong Un. In 1957, a stele shelter with a wooden frame and tiled roof was built to protect the stele.
