These are relics associated with Baek Gwang-hun (pen name Okbong, 1537–1582), a literary figure of the reign of King Seonjo of Joseon, and his descendants, including his son Baek Jin-nam (pen name Songho, 1564–1618); all are kept together at the Okbong Relics Hall. Of these, 113 items in nine categories are designated as Jeollanam-do Tangible Cultural Heritage. Baek Gwang-hun, together with Choe Gyeong-chang and Yi Dal, was known as one of the Three Tang-style Poets, and is regarded as one of the eight great literary masters of Joseon. His son Baek Jin-nam took part in the Imjin War under the command of Yi Sun-sin. The designated relics include the Baekgwanghungyocheop (a certificate of official appointment), the baekpae certificate awarded to the Confucian scholar Baek Jin-nam, the Okbongjip, the Gajangpiljeok, the Jangseodongsuchangnok, woodblocks for a portrait of Baek Okbong, a woodblock of calligraphy by Han Seok-bong presented to Baek, a jinsa (a scholar who had passed the lower civil examination), woodblocks of the Okbongjip, and a yeongyeo. The Okbongjip was compiled and published by Baek Jin-nam from his father's poetry and prose, while the Gajangpiljeok is a compilation of writings by people who corresponded with the Baek family. The yeongyeo (靈與) is a palanquin used to carry the ancestral tablet and the spirit of the deceased home from a funeral; because it is believed to carry the spirit, it is also called yoyeo or yeongyeo. Made of wood, it stands 78cm high in total, and is said to have been bestowed by King Seonjo when Baek Gwang-hun died. These relics are valued as material for understanding the history of the Suwon Baek clan and the activities and thought of its leading figures.
