Seated Seosan Ganworam Hermitage Wooden Bodhisattva
서산간월암목조보살좌상 · 瑞山看月庵木造菩薩坐像
Provincial Tangible HeritageJoseon · 1600

Stylistically, the Wooden Seated Bodhisattva of Ganworam Hermitage is presumed to have been made around 1600, and appears to have been created as an attendant bodhisattva flanking a small triad of Buddhist images. Its slender oval face, tall topknot and soft drapery folds distinguish it from bodhisattva images made after the Imjin War, the Japanese invasions of Korea of 1592–1598, which began to show increasing stylisation.
