Byeongnyujeong Pavilion
벽류정 · 碧流亭

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krByeongnyujeong Pavilion was built by Kim Un-hae in the 18th year of King Injo's reign (1640). The site had originally been occupied by a villa built by Jo Ju, but it passed into the possession of the Gwangsan Kim clan, who built the pavilion there. It has undergone several repairs and is relatively well preserved. Set against Geumseongsan Mountain, with a plain spreading out before it, the pavilion stands in the woods on the largest of three hills. It is a building of three bays by three bays with a hipped-and-gabled paljak roof shaped like the Chinese character for "eight". Inside, eleven wooden plaques are preserved, including ones inscribed by the noted calligraphers Min Gyu-ho and Sin Heon. Byeongnyujeong is, overall, a beautifully balanced pavilion.
