A sindobi (spirit-path stele) records the lifetime achievements of a king or high official and is set up at the entrance to his tomb; this stele commemorates the life and career of Jeong Cheol, pen name Songgang (1536–1593), a mid-Joseon literary figure and statesman renowned as a master of gasa literature. At the age of 26, in 1561, the 16th year of King Myeongjong, Jeong Cheol placed first in the jinsa examination, and the following year he came first in the state civil service examination, going on to hold numerous official posts. He also displayed outstanding talent across many genres, including sijo, gasa, and Chinese-style poetry, writing works such as Gwandong Byeolgok, Samiingok, Sok Miingok, and Seongsan Byeolgok. The stele has its body erected on a tortoise-shaped pedestal stone, with a roof stone placed on top. The inscription was composed in 1684, the 10th year of King Sukjong, by Song Si-yeol, and the calligraphy was done by Kim Su-jeung.
