Seosan Dongmun-dong Flagpole Supports
서산동문동당간지주 · 瑞山東門洞幢竿支柱

The site in Dongmun-dong where a five-storey stone pagoda and a pair of flagpole supports (danggan jiji, stone posts once holding a temple's ceremonial banner pole) now stand is still called Daesa-dong ("Great Temple Village") today, because a large temple is said to have stood here during the Goryeo period. On the base of the flagpole support, a hollow about 20cm in diameter was carved in the centre to hold the pole, and a round seat for the pole was carved in relief around it. It bears no decorative design or carving of any kind, and was made from a single stone, relatively small and simple in form, suggesting that it was made between the late Goryeo and early Joseon periods.
