Geumgang River Gol Twin Tap on Songnisan Mountain, Boeun
보은 속리산 금강골 쌍탑 · 報恩 俗離山 錦剛谷 雙塔

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThese are two pagodas standing side by side, east and west, on a rock outcrop east of a former temple site in the Geumgang-gol valley on Songnisan Mountain. Having collapsed, they were restored in 1997. The two pagodas share the same style: the typical form of a three-storey pagoda body set on a two-tier platform. Pillar shapes are carved into both the upper and lower tiers of the platform, and the lower tier also bears shallow ansang carvings, a decorative blind-niche motif. Pillar-shaped carvings likewise appear on each body stone of the pagoda. The roof stones sweep up buoyantly at the four corners and carry four-tiered eave supports on their undersides. About 50 m to the southeast, in a valley below the pagodas, lies the site of an old hermitage; the roof-tile fragments found there are typical of the Goryeo period, and the carving on each part of the pagodas likewise suggests that they date from the Goryeo period.
