The Josanggyeong is a Buddhist ritual manual in one roll and one volume, compiled by the Joseon-period monk Jitak. It gathers and systematises the various rites and procedures for the making of Buddha and Bodhisattva images that had until then been scattered across many different sutras. The book explains each ritual procedure and elaborates on its significance, and, distinctively, gives the incantations recited during the rites in Sanskrit, Chinese characters and Hangul together, so that they could be readily understood by anyone.
