The stone standing Buddha is carved from a single block of granite, with the body of the Buddha carved in relief against the mandorla, while the pedestal was made as a separate stone; the whole is heavily worn, and parts that had broken off or been severed have since been repaired. The part of the body below the knees is buried, with concrete spread over the ground there, and the lower part of the pedestal is likewise buried, so its exact form cannot be determined. The head has plain, uncurled hair (sobal) and a high usnisha; the face is worn away over much of its surface so that its exact form cannot be made out, while the ears hang down to the shoulders and are rendered comparatively large. The robe is worn in the style that covers both shoulders (tonggyeon), with a hand gesture (mudra) in which both hands are brought together at the chest; the outer robe draped over the arms hangs down long, its hem marked with a border and its folds shown flowing toward the back, while below the waist the folds are rendered with incised lines, though since the lower part is buried its exact form is unknown. The mandorla is of the boat-shaped type; its upper section has broken away entirely at the front, and lotus designs are carved on the halo around the head. The pedestal is a lotus-petal base with the petals pointing downward (bokryeonjwa), oval in plan overall, carved with a hole at its centre into which the stone standing Buddha could be set. Because the figure is partly buried its overall size cannot be established, but since the currently exposed height of the mandorla alone is 243 cm, the total height including the pedestal is judged to have been considerably greater. The overall height including the mandorla is about 243 cm, the height of the Buddha figure about 205 cm, the height of the head about 75 cm, and the shoulder width about 90 cm; the maximum width of the mandorla is about 150 cm, and the pedestal ranges in width from about 101 cm at the top to about 130 cm at the bottom.
