A spirit-path stele (sindobi) records the lifetime achievements of a king or a high official and is erected to the southeast of his tomb. These two steles commemorate, respectively, the deeds of No Ik and No Hong, the grandfather and father of No Su-sin, who served as chief state councillor (yeongeuijeong) under King Seonjo of Joseon. The two steles are identical in size and form: each has a stele body set on a tortoise-shaped base and capped with a semicircular capstone. The tortoise's back bears a rectangular socket to hold the stele body in place, and the capstone is finely carved with dragon and cloud patterns on its front, back and sides. Much of the inscribed text is now difficult to make out. Notable for its refined carving, this stele was erected in 1581, the 14th year of King Seonjo, with the calligraphy written by Han Seok-bong, a celebrated calligrapher of his day.
