The main house (anchae) is a late-Joseon building, moved and restored from the old house that once stood in Bugang-ri, Buyong-myeon, where Kim Jong-cheol lived; it is a timber-framed tiled-roof house built in a right-angled ('ㄱ'-shaped) plan. The detached storehouse wing (gwangchae) has a roof covered with thin stone slabs — a stone-tiled house (seokwaga) — a form once common in mountain hamlets of the central region. In structure, the main house is a right-angled timber tile-roofed building, while the storehouse wing is a single straight ('一'-shaped) stone-tiled building. The house was relocated and restored to its present site in 1995, when the Munui Cultural Heritage Complex was established. According to the 1982 national register of settlements and traditional houses, it is said to have been built by an ancestor three generations back from Song Dong-chon, who lived in the house until the 1950s, though the exact date of construction cannot be confirmed. At present, the right-angled main wing and the gate wing stand relocated within the Munui Cultural Heritage Complex. However, photographs in the 1982 survey register show that there was then no separate gate wing, and the entrance into the building faced toward the sarangbang (men's quarters) side, so the original atmosphere would have differed from its present state. The direction of entry into a house is a highly significant element, and it is presumed that it proved difficult to reproduce this original arrangement faithfully during the development of the heritage complex. The roof over the sarangbang side is hipped (ujingak), while the wing on the anbang (women's quarters) side has a gabled (matbae) roof. Architecturally the house is a traditional tiled-roof example of an ordinary commoner's dwelling, built with a simple mindori three-purlin (samryang) frame — a modest, unpretentious house that fully merits its value as cultural heritage.
