Provincial Tangible Heritage

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis book is the draft manuscript of a leading local gazetteer of the Andong region. In 1602 Gwon Gi (1546-1624) began compiling it on the order of his teacher Ryu Seong-ryong, completing it in 1608 in eight volumes bound as four books. Unfortunately this draft of the Yeonggaji was not carved onto printing woodblocks and published until some 300 years later, in 1899, with colophons by Kim Do-hwa and Ryu Do-heon; the carving and publication were carried out by his descendants Sang-hak, Sang-tae and Sang-pyo.
