This is a mourning poem composed in 1604, the thirty-seventh year of King Seonjo, by Ori Yi Won-ik to lament the death of his wife, Lady Jeong of the Yeongil clan. The poem was written on a mourning banner; customarily, after the funeral such texts were copied for safekeeping and the original was burned, but because this one was written in Yi Won-ik's own hand it seems to have been regarded as especially significant and preserved rather than destroyed. It originally bore no separate title, but it is recorded in the supplementary volume of Yi Won-ik's collected writings, the Origip, under the title "Domang" (Mourning My Late Wife).
