Mui Village School was built in 1710, the thirty-sixth year of King Sukjong of Joseon, by Yi Ji-seom, a twentieth-generation descendant, and Yi Sik, a twenty-first-generation descendant, of Taesagong Yi In-deok, the founding ancestor of the Yeoju Yi clan, in order to teach their descendants. The building has four bays across the front and two bays to the side, under a hip-and-gable roof whose sloping sides form the shape of the character for "eight" (八). Of the four front bays, the central two form a wooden-floored hall laid in a well-shaped (jeong, 井) pattern, while the bays at either end are heated ondol rooms. Behind the school stands a shrine dedicated to Yi Yun-su (1545–1594), a sixteenth-generation descendant.
