The "Beon Station Jingbirok" is a Hangeul translation of the Jingbirok, the record kept by Yu Seong-ryong (1542-1607) of the causes and course of the Japanese invasions of Korea (Imjin War); it is held at the Chunghyeon Museum. It is made up of two volumes, titled Geon and Gon (Heaven and Earth), and the end of the second volume notes the time of translation with the phrase "translated on the third day of the seventh month of a musin year." Examination of the Hangeul orthography of the book shows features generally characteristic of the Korean language of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries; on this basis, the musin year is presumed to be either 1788 (the twelfth year of King Jeongjo) or 1848 (the fourteenth year of King Heonjong). The "Beon Station Jingbirok" is thought to have been read not only by the descendants of Yi Won-ik but also by children and women in the family. It appears to have been copied out by a woman, and as the only Hangeul translation of the Jingbirok discovered to date, it is of very great documentary value.
