This geomungo (a traditional Korean six-string zither) is called "eosageum" because King Taejong of Joseon gave the instrument, which he had kept, to his sixth son, Prince Huiryeong; it has since been handed down as a family heirloom of the Huiryeong-gun branch of the Jeonju Yi clan. It is relatively small, measuring 120.3 cm in length, 15.9 cm in width and 12 cm in thickness, and is made of paulownia and chestnut wood, with silk thread and cowhide used as supplementary materials. Its six strings, twisted from silk thread, are struck with a suldae, a bamboo plectrum, to produce sound. This geomungo bears finely and delicately carved decorative patterns, and its overall form is very beautiful.
