KOGL Type 2Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.kr

This book, corresponding to volumes 4 to 7 of the Lotus Sutra, is a re-carved edition based on woodblocks that the brothers Seong Dal-saeng and Seong Gae transcribed in 1405, the fifth year of King Taejong, to pray for the repose of their late father. It appears to have been printed in 1477, the eighth year of King Seongjong, at the votive request of the family of Han Gye-hui, Lord Seopyeong. Of the full seven volumes, volumes 4 to 7 survive here bound as a single book. The border of the book is a sajudanbyeon, a single line enclosing all four sides; the text has no ruled lines dividing the columns; and each page is laid out flat, with ten lines of sixteen characters.
