Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis is a set of printing woodblocks, in six volumes bound as three books, carved to print the collected literary works of Jonyangjae Song Jeong-nyeom (1612–1684), a civil official of the mid-Joseon period. After passing the state examination in 1655, the sixth year of King Hyojong, Song held posts including hagyu (tutor) at Seonggyungwan, the National Confucian Academy, inspector at the Office of the Inspector-General (Saheonbu), and fifth-rank official (jeongnang) at the Ministry of Rites (Yejo), and he associated mainly with scholars of the Namin (Southerner) faction. As magistrate of Gijang he left a distinguished record of good governance. The preface to the collected works was written by Garam Yi Hyeon-il (1627–1704), a leading Yeongnam scholar of the time. The manuscript was kept by the family for more than a hundred years before Seongjae Heo Jeon added a colophon during the reign of Emperor Gojong, and it was finally published by Song's descendants in 1901.
