This is a single volume combining the Bulseol susaenggyeong (Sutra of Life Extension Spoken by the Buddha) and the Bulseol yesu siwang saengchilgyeong (Sutra on the Ten Kings Preached in Advance), together known as the Susaenggyeong. The Susaenggyeong explains, according to the twelve zodiac signs and the sixty-year sexagenary cycle, the amounts of money and scripture that must be donated to the storehouse of the afterlife. The accompanying Siwanggyeong urges people to make offerings to the Buddha while still living, in order to escape the torments of hell. This edition was first carved onto printing blocks in 1469, the first year of King Yejong, by the monks Sinmi and Yeolhak together with Prince Yi Nyeong and Kim Su-on, and the present copy is a reissue printed in the third year of the Wanli era (a reign title of Ming China used from 1573 to 1619), that is, in 1575, at Bulgapsa Temple in Yeonggwang, Jeolla-do. The Susaenggyeong contains a preface describing how the scripture came to be transmitted, followed by images of the judges presiding over each of the twelve zodiac signs and details of the offerings required for each. This is followed by the Siwanggyeong, which unfolds in woodblock illustrations a eulogy urging offerings while alive, together with depictions of the great kings of the afterlife and their attendants, and scenes of hell. The book's border is a single-line frame on all four sides, and each page has eight columns of fifteen characters.
