Andong Mandaeheon Hall was built in 1587, the 20th year of King Seonjo of Joseon, by Okbong Gwon Wi (1552–1630) as a place to pursue his studies and train disciples. Gwon Wi passed the civil service examination in 1601, the 34th year of King Seonjo, and went on to hold offices including posts at the Board of Taxation and as Jeongnang at the Board of Rites. The building has an overall L-shaped (giyeok-shaped) layout, with an ondol (heated-floor) room on the left and a wooden floor laid on the right. The ondol room originally formed a single bay, but a door frame has since been installed to divide it. Hanging above the wooden floor is a poem exchanged with the Ming general Ju Won-jo during the Japanese invasions of Korea (Imjin War), along with a plaque reading 'Mandaeheon', written by Gwon Wi's younger brother, Gwon O.
