This building is a pavilion erected in 1815, the fifteenth year of King Sunjo of Joseon, to commemorate three brothers of the Yi family: Yi Bang-rin, pen name Dongho (1574–1624), who raised a righteous army in the Gyeongju region during the Japanese invasions and distinguished himself there, and his younger brothers Yu-rin and Gwang-rin. Yi Bang-rin took part in the battle of Yeongcheon fortress together with the Gyeongju deputy magistrate Bak Ui-jang and the righteous-army commander Gwon Eung-su, and, using the bigyeokjincheollloe, an early Korean exploding bomb, distinguished himself in the recovery of Gyeongju fortress. He also distinguished himself in the battle of Gyeyeon at Gyeongju, and later served as deputy magistrate and concurrently prefect of the Andong protectorate. The building has a three-bay wooden-floored hall at its centre with heated ondol rooms on either side. Behind the central bay, the room called Pilgyeongjae is dedicated to Yi Bang-rin, while Hwasudang on the left and Pojukheon on the right are dedicated to his two younger brothers. The site was chosen with a hill at its back, facing due south. It has a distinctive structure in which a raised, loft-like hall was built atop a platform constructed to follow the contours of the land.
