The seated wooden Vairocana Buddha of Jijangam Hermitage is currently enshrined in the Daeungjeon Hall of Jijangam Hermitage in Changsin-dong, Jongno-gu. It was installed there in 1924, when Gang Jae-hui rebuilt the hermitage. Inside the bokjang - the sacred cavity placed within a Buddhist statue - a dedicatory record (joseonggi), a huryeongtong (a sealed container holding relics and ritual treasures), four kinds of bokjang texts, and various dharani (Buddhist incantation texts) were found together. The dedicatory record shows that the statue was made in 1622, the fourteenth year of King Gwanghaegun, as the principal Buddha of the two temples Jainsa and Suyangsa. A large quantity of texts and dharani was found within the bokjang, all presumed to date from the seventeenth century.
