Okganjeong Pavilion
옥간정 · 玉磵亭
Provincial Tangible Heritage

This pavilion was built in 1716, the 42nd year of King Sukjong of Joseon, by the brothers Jeong Man-yang and Jeong Gyu-yang, Neo-Confucian scholars, in order to cultivate disciples. Here they pursued their studies and produced many scholars, including Chief State Councillor Jo Hyeon-myeong, as well as Jeong Jung-gi and Jeong Gan. The state later offered them official posts on several occasions, but they declined and devoted themselves solely to scholarship. It is an L-shaped pavilion with a frontage of three bays and a side of four and a half bays, well preserving distinctive features such as its methods of window and door construction.
