Standing Seokjoyaksa Temple Buddha in Changdong-ri, Chungju
KOGL Type 1Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.kr

This is a Buddha image carved in relief, together with a bead-shaped mandorla, on a single granite slab. Above the plain, hairless head is rendered a thick usnisha, the cranial protuberance. The eyebrows are semicircular, and the face is full and plump. The ears reach down to the shoulders, and the three creases are rendered on the neck. The robe covers both shoulders; the left hand is held at the chest with a medicine bowl resting on top of it, while the right hand is raised to chest height with the palm turned outward. The pedestal consists of a rectangular slab carved with a lotus design and fitted to hold the Buddha image, but it does not appear to be the original pedestal.
