곡성도림사보광전목조아미타삼존불상 · 谷城 道林寺 普光殿 木造阿彌陀三尊佛坐像

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krIn Bogwangjeon Hall, the Amitabha Buddha, the hall's principal image, is flanked on either side by the bodhisattvas Avalokiteshvara and Mahasthamaprapta, arranged together as a triad. They sit on a three-tiered pedestal placed on a square Sumeru altar. According to the votive text found inside the Amitabha Buddha, it was made in the Gichu year of the third year of Kangxi; but since the third year of Kangxi actually corresponds to the Gapjin year, it is more correct to date it to the Gichu year of the fourth year of Kangxi, that is, 1665. The Buddha's hands form the mudra of the Middle Rank, Lower Birth, one of the nine grades of Amitabha's hand gestures. The votive text found inside Avalokiteshvara and Mahasthamaprapta revealed that they were made in the 19th year of Kangxi, that is, 1680. The figures measure 122 cm (Amitabha Buddha), 119 cm (Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva) and 117 cm (Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva) in height.
