Jeyeongnok Woodblocks of Pyochungsa Temple, Miryang
밀양 표충사 제영록 목판 · 密陽 表忠寺 題詠錄 木板

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis work gathers together various writings about Pyochungsa Temple — the reasons for its establishment, its location and related matters — compiled by Kim Sang-jip. The date on which these woodblocks were carved is not known, but they record the history of Pyochungsa Temple, including the location of its shrine hall and the background and intent behind its founding, and the work comprises seven volumes in all. Heo Gyun, pen name Gyosan (1569–1618), the foremost man of letters of his day, wrote the preface, and the monk Noemukdang wrote the postscript in 1612, the fourth year of King Gwanghaegun. These woodblocks are valued as a direct source of information on the history of Pyochungsa Temple and on the activities and achievements of Master Samyeong, supplementing the historical record of the Japanese invasions of Korea (1592–1598).
