This is a plain white porcelain jar of large size, made in the late Joseon period (19th century). The rim is high and vertical, and the body swells at the shoulder before narrowing sharply below the middle. The entire surface is undecorated, and the glaze has a pale bluish tinge. A thin incised line encircles the vessel just above the rim. In places around the rim, the base of the body and the foot, the glaze has pooled and the clay body shows through. There is also an area on part of the body where the colour has turned pale yellow owing to kiln variation during firing. Grains of sand adhere here and there to the body, and bubbles have formed in the glaze surface at the base. Fine sand, used as a firing support, is thickly stuck to the foot's contact surface and the inside of the foot. Although the body is slightly warped from the firing, the jar is overall slender yet stable in form; undecorated examples of this kind are rare, and it displays the typical characteristics of white porcelain from the later period of Bunwon, the royal kiln.
