The Seated Dry-lacquer Amitabha Buddha of Jungnimsa Temple, Naju, is an early Joseon-period statue that carries on the sculptural tradition of the late Goryeo period, making it a very valuable example for the study of early Joseon Buddhist statuary style. It is one of only around fifteen dry-lacquer Buddhist statues (geoncheolbul, images built up in layers of hemp cloth and lacquer over a core) known nationwide, giving it historical, academic and artistic value.
