Provincial Tangible Heritage

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis is a stone pagoda of the Goryeo period, built by piling up irregularly shaped natural stones. No records survive concerning the pagoda itself, nor about its surroundings. A low platform as wide as a building site was laid out, and stepped tiers were built up on top of it in the manner of a staircase. On the first and second tiers, niches were cut into all four sides, as in a wooden pagoda, to house Buddha images. The upper part has now collapsed, so it is not known how many storeys the pagoda originally had, and it is a pagoda of a distinctive form in which the boundary between the base and the body is also unclear.
