This is a collection of documents related to Yugok Station, located about 40 li south of Mungyeong-hyeon. Yugok Station lay on the route of the 4th and 5th of Joseon's nine trunk roads, and was a key transport hub linking the Yeongnam region to Seoul. Eighteen subordinate stations were attached to Yugok Station, and a chalbang (station superintendent) of junior sixth rank was posted there. Im Jong-su (1841-1893), the figure connected with these documents, is thought to have risen from a station background to become an official in the late Joseon period. The documents include 12 royal edicts issued between 1879, the 16th year of Emperor Gojong, and 1890, the 27th year of Emperor Gojong; four junhogu (certified household registers); one cheopji (letter of appointment) naming Im Jong-su as a dosa of the Chunghunbu (Office of Merit Subjects); one sigwon (examination paper); 16 volumes of various documents relating to Yugok and Pyeongneung stations; two documents relating to the Chunghunbu and the Hyeongjo (Board of Punishments); and 13 ganchal (personal letters) - a substantial body of material in all. These documents are held together by the Imseong Jin clan of Mungyeong, and are valued as useful material for studying the social and economic history of the closing years of the Korean Empire.
