Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThese woodblocks were carved to preserve the poems and record of the life of Yeongheongong Kim Ji-dae (1190–1266), a civil official of the Goryeo period under King Gojong. In the fourth year of King Gojong's reign (1217), when the Khitan invaded Gangdong, Kim went to the front in place of his elderly father, achieving the rare distinction of demonstrating both loyalty to the state and filial devotion at once. Kim Ji-dae was then appointed sarok (registrar) of Jeonju, where he helped people in hardship and governed so well that he was held in high regard. He later served at court in posts including gyogam of Bomun-gak Hall and pansajaesa, and also acted as jigonggeo, overseeing the state civil service examinations. After his death the court bestowed on him the posthumous title "Yeongheon."
